I am an AdWords Nerd! SEO + AdWords is my life, both teaching it and living it as a small business owner.

They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, and this is true for Advanced Google AdWords. Don’t let the word ‘Advanced’ scare you. This is really a very thorough, excellent treatment of AdWords from soup to nuts. Both basics and advanced. Mr. Geddes clearly knows his stuff –

Some examples. First, broad match. Mr. Geddes explains that a broad match for

    dog care san francisco

will yield search results not just for these words, but for similar words such as

    pet care san francisco

    animal boarding bay area

That is a powerful way to get new customers, but also extremely dangerous as it can run up your budget, quickly.

Second, the content network. Geddes explains the power of the content network to have you reach new venues outside of Google such as blogs, portals, news papers, etc. He also points out how to block nefarious sites like parked domains and error pages.

I will recommend this book for people who can take my training in San Francisco at AcademyX, or my online training. And even those who cannot. My only criticism would be, like every other AdWords book out there, Advanced Google AdWords does not place AdWords within the context of your free, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts. But the two should work together for maximum reach.

If you are looking at AdWords, I highly recommend this book.

Brad Geddes is one of the few AdWords experts I always pay attention to. He’s one of the best in the field.

This book is incredible comprehensive, illustrative and readable. Both beginners and experienced pay per click marketers will find invaluable insights here. Brad fills in a lot of gaps that the AdWords Help screens don’t cover. Otherwise, you’d have to get the info from an AdWords rep, and only the biggest spenders get the best attention from these reps.

Heeding this book’s advice from the start will save you a lot of money and get you much better results. Highly recommended.

If you are serious about PPC management you need to get this book. It doesn’t read like someone is just spewing everything they know about the subject like a lot of books you read today. I feel like I’m being taught by someone that is a real teacher. Every time I read a chapter, I feel like I’m more of an expert than I was before. And this is AFTER reading numerous other PPC books! Good stuff.

Brad’s book covers every detail of Google Adwords, from keyword research to ad creation to landing page optimization and customer acquisition. Every chapter includes a checklist of best practices for quick reference, as well as detailed explanations of each facet of Adwords. Brad’s easy-to-understand writing style and descriptive illustrations add to the usefulness of this book.

Whether your Adwords budget is $1 per day or $10,000 per day, you owe it to yourself to get this book. Keep a copy at hand for reference – you’ll use it regularly.

Brad Geddes has a knack for translating complex concepts into easy-to-understand information. I’m also a search engine marketer – I’ve heard Brad speak many times over the years and always send my staff to his “Seminars for Success.” I’m thrilled that he’s published a book, which my team can use as a manual on an ongoing basis. `Advanced Google AdWords’ is a superb overview of Google AdWords. It starts at a beginner level and goes step-by-step through the strategies and tactics for setting up and managing campaigns. The book also includes plenty of advanced content, even covering topics like Google’s content network, image and video ads, and understanding reporting data. Specific screen shots and examples are included, which help illustrate each point. `Advanced Google AdWords’ should be required reading for anyone, at any experience level, who’s advertising on AdWords.
